Get The Skinny on Fig Seasons

When researching suitable fig varieties, one of the most important criteria is the ripening season. This is especially true for growers in northern regions, where earlier fig varieties are critical.

But even for those located in warmer climates, with long growing seasons, knowing the season a variety ripens can be useful. Selecting varieties from across the different ripening seasons can spread out fig harvests across the entire growing season.

Some categorize the seasons by early, mid, and late. Others may add very early and very late.

Clicking on each of the above will take you directly to the Fig Variety Database listing for that season.

You may also select the appropriate season under the Main Crop Season drop-down box on the Fig Variety Database search page, scroll down and select Search. The results will display at the bottom of the page. It’s that easy.
