Description

Possibly three or more strains of UNofficial LSU releases.

One-three lobed.

This variety is a very early ripening, productive, robust cultivar. It often ripens bright for a dark fig, and sometimes has striations. Extremely early ripening is fig's great advantage for short seasons.

According to Charlie Johnson with the LSU AgCenter, Improved Celeste is what they call O'Rourke. See Figs remain popular Louisiana fruit. But I guess it's still up for debate, as others have claimed that other Celeste strains unofficially made their way out of LSU.

LSU Improved Celeste is a very early ripening, productive, robust cultivar. Similar in many ways to LSU Tiger, akin to a smaller and earlier ripening version. It often ripens bright for a dark fig, and sometimes has striations. Extreme early ripening is Improved Celeste’s great advantage for short seasons.
