I258, I-258, I 258, I #258

Description

It is very similar to Bourjassote Grise, only sweeter. It is medium to large sized with a solid dark strawberry pulp and purple-blueish colored skin. It produces a drop of resin blocking the ostiole which keeps insects out.

Per Patrick Shafer, this is the his best (along with #358) of IT collection for his growing conditions. It is his earliest and latest fig each year.

Tends to ripen well in cooler weather, when other varieties will not.
