Description

Tends to ripen a couple of weeks earlier than Col de Dame Noir. Discovered by Montserrat Pons. Rated by many fig connoisseurs to be of the same high quality as Black Madeira.

Pons translation: The tree is located in the sowing plant, Sa Bugaderia, of the building of sa Torre, in the marina of Llucmajor, although it is originated from the possession of Carrossa, in Artá; that a time belonged to the marquesado de sa Torre. Variety that would need to be studied by the rarity of its harvest.

The fig tree presents a great aspect for its vigorous, spherical and remarkable cup, of dense foliage and leafy, mediumly prolific and with a medium period of harvest.

This fig tree produces two types of figs in the same bud, like: white lady's neck, black lady's neck. The white figs are of a greenish yellow color, small and the black ones, of a purple black color, are bigger and heavy, both, they are piriformes, of thick, but fine skin. They present a high percentage of fruits attached and very low of abnormal formations; red pulp, and aquenios in small quantities and small ones. They have a median abscission of the peduncle and a great ease of peeling. They are very resistant to the rains, and to the opening of the ostiolo; of consistency strong and very ease of detachment. The maturation is early, quality that differentiates it from the lady's neck, both white and black.

The leaves are mostly five lobes, less than three and a few of them, with wavy margins, abundant hair on the underside, and acute peciolar angle.

The COLL DE DAMA BLANCA-NEGRA variety is a curious and rare variety, to be studied and pay more attention. According to the informants it was spontaneously born between a black lady's neck and a white lady's neck and when it came to fruition it produced this rarity in the crop and maintained over time the same characteristics in the later plantations of cuttings of the fig-neck lady white-black mother.
