Description

Condit Monograph

Azigzaou: (Name signifies “green,” referring to the color of the mature fruit.) Described and illustrated by Mann (1939a); fairly well distributed near Mekla [Algeria].

Tree very vigorous, requiring a warm and sunny exposure, compact and erect; season late; leaves almost entire, thick, and deep green. Fruit large, 2 to 2-1/4 inches broad, up to 2 inches long, somewhat oblate; stalk short; color green; eye scales tinged red; interior violet. Texture firm, especially good for transport.
