I’m not a big fan of Woody Allen, but this aphorism rings true. After numerous calls to septic installers, no shows and unreturned calls, it was the eighth one that finally showed up and gotter done.
We’ve been ready to move into the house for almost two months, but a septic system is pretty much a necessity. Apparently, the bulk of the septic installers didn’t share our sense of urgency.
This lack of responsiveness doesn’t seem to be limited to septic installers. Other contractors (block layers, excavators, well drillers, etc) appear to live by the same code (or lack thereof). Customer service, in general, seems to be lacking across the board. I won’t even go into the frustration of contacting most customer service call centers, only to be greeted by a person who only has the skill of english as a distant second language.
So, if you want to take on the challenge of building your own domicile, be prepared for a high level of frustration with “service” providers.
